If you’re like most coffee snobs, you have a favorite office mug or two which you fill and refill ad nauseum throughout the day. There’s a lot of variety in the designs on these mugs… some have a witty saying, some show a souvenir of a place you’ve been, or it’s company branded on the inside of these mugs though, tend to have a universal brownish smear. Yuck! Fill that mug up again and get that stain hidden!
Luckily for you… coffee stains are EASY to remove.
Option 1 – Lemon
Lemon truly is an amazing fruit. It’s can be used as a natural disinfectant… and fortunately for us; it’s a powerful cleaner. You can use it to clean your coffee mug. You need:
- A lemon, quartered
- A microfiber cloth
- Water
- Salt (possibly)
- Squeeze the lemon juice into the mug and cover the stains with the juice.
- Let this sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Wet down a microfiber cloth and rub the lemon juice into the stains.
- Rinse clean.
- Repeat as needed. If you’ve got really tough stains, you can sprinkle a little salt into the mug with the lemon juice before you rub with the cloth.
Option 2 – Baking Soda
Baking soda goes in toothpaste to whiten teeth; and in the wash to whiten clothes; and in your mug to rid of stains! You need:
- 1 to 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- Water
- A microfiber cloth
- Pour some baking soda into your mug.
- Add a little water and make a paste.
- Spread the paste around the inside of the mug, making sure to coat stained areas.
- Scrub the paste into any spots that need to be with the cloth.
- Rinse the mug to remove all baking soda residue.
- Repeat until all stains have been removed.
Option 3 – Salt
This seasoning makes a great scouring agent and has many purposes, including removing stains from coffee mugs. You need:
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- Water
- A cloth
- Wet the inside of the mug. Add salt.
- Use the microfiber cloth to scrub stains out of the mug.
- Rinse the mug clean with water.
- Repeat until your mug is free of stains.
- RINSE… no one likes salt in their coffee!!!
