While COVID-19 disrupted everyone’s lives, it hit small businesses particularly hard. Shutdowns were devastating, but even as things open again, there’s been a glut of employees willing to return to offices, stores, or restaurants that may not feel as safe. As Help Wanted signs spring up everywhere and employers compete for scarce resources, there is one way to better position your company–offer a clean and safe workplace.

COVID Variant Threat

First, how big is the threat from COVID variants? From what the CDC says, the Delta variant is what is running rampant and it is more contagious than its COVID-19 predecessor. Those who are unvaccinated seem to be at the highest risk, but those who are vaccinated can be carriers, so it impacts us all. Of particular concern are kids under 12 who cannot receive the vaccine and are seemingly more susceptible to this latest strain of the disease. Keeping workplaces safe then not only protects employees, but also their families, and really, anyone else they have contact with.

Masks and distancing are helpful, but knocking out the viruses and bacteria through cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing is a critical part of creating that safe environment employees want.

Clean and Disinfect

To best avoid bacteria and viruses, high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops should be cleaned daily, along with any other dirty surfaces. Once clean, areas can be disinfected with products that are approved by the EPA to fight off COVID. Carpets can be vacuumed as usual and add in periodic shampooing, especially if an employee has been onsite and then tested positive for COVID.

Most offices have an abundance of electronics that would fall under the high-touch category—phones, keyboards, remote controls. Wipeable covers can be placed on most of these to simplify the process or each device can be cleaned following the manufacturers’ recommendations.

Professional Cleaning Assistance

There’s a lot to consider in creating a cleaning and disinfecting program that can provide that safe space potential employees are seeking. If the challenge seems too daunting call in the professionals.

We can work with you to schedule regular cleaning and disinfecting and can offer an added layer of safety with our EPA-approved, all-natural HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid) fogging. We bring in our fog machines and allow the disinfectant to disperse into every inch of your workspace. There is no residue left behind so even papers and electronics can be left out as usual. HOCL fog is so potent, it kills 99.999% of bacteria, viruses, and pathogens so even COVID cannot survive.
